Losing Weight The Right Way

Gaining weight and attempting to lose it seems to be the norm in our society. Most people simply try to reduce on how much they consume. Some may follow extreme low-calorie or fad diets that may be dangerous.

Fad diets have little to long-lasting value. In fact, they can even increase your ability to gain fat. What happens? Taking fad diets leads to muscle loss along with fat, especially if the weight is lost quickly. Yet muscle helps you burn more calories. In context, losing muscle makes it easier to gain back the fat.

So what's the secret to the right weight loss? The answer is so simple. You just have to change your behaviour concerning food and exercise which means, you eat less and exercise more. Learning how to eat a well-balanced, moderate diet and exercising regularly will help you maintain a normal and healthy weight. So here are tips for a healthy weight loss...

▪︎ Keep a food diary. This may sound a bit strange, but writing down the things you eat and why you eat them can be enlightening. Do do eat when you're hungry? Bored? Or upset? Little things like this help you keep track of your day-to-day diet.

▪︎ Measure your foods for a few days so you can get used to portion sizes. You may not know how much you consume.

▪︎ Avoid fattening foods. Fattening foods contain lots of calories. Junk foods like cheese burgers, potato chips, chocolate chip cookies, etc, have high calories and very little nutritional value. You should try substituting it to more healthy foods like vegetables and grains. Stop eating foods rich in fats and start eating healthy foods.

▪︎ Eat three meals a day. Eating regularly will help discourage the urge for snacks. Skipping meals can make you hungry and you'd just end up binge eating.

▪︎ Do exercise. Exercise is extremely important for weight loss. Regular exercise can help increase the rate at which you burn calories, and it can help convert fat into muscle. It also helps you to look your best by keeping your weight in check.

▪︎ Don't get discouraged. If you give in and eat a bar of chocolate, the battle with the bulge doesn't have to be over. Just go back to your new eating habits right away.
